I’m reviewing this one now because I finished it recently.
It’s just easier to praise and complain about it when it’s still clear in my memory.
I believe there’s an anime adaption as well that handles the first route, or rather the route you’re forced to complete first.

Funny enough, I might have a different opinion compared to others.
Normally, I get a walkthrough after I complete a route to find better save points so I don’t have to press skip a lot. Doing this, I found a majority of people(which is like 10, lol) disliking Chisato, who was by far the most well developed character in the novel even if she does have issues and can be a total bitch.

I went through the routes with Chisato->Michiru->Aomi->Mifuyu->Shinonome
There’s really no set path aside from maybe doing Chisato->Aomi->Mifuyu->Shinonome->Michiru
Not to say Michiru’s route is bad, it’s either my favorite or runner up depending my mood. It’s more on how to buffer the more plain routes with the more interesting ones.

Chisato:

You’re forced to go through this route first. You have a few choices but they don’t mean anything as the actual flags are hidden until you finish the first route. She’s also a recurring element in every route, though how powerful is dependent on the route.
For example, I think she was used incredibly in Michiru’s route but pretty much just an addition in Shinonome.
She’s the tsundere of the cast, she’s also a bitch at times. She’s pretty funny though and overall the most social among the routes. She’s basically the childhood friend route combined with the popular girl route alongside the driving force of the common route.
Overall, I find her cycled between two others on being the best route, depending on preferences. Though I believe she’s the second best route in the novel.
I believe most of the hate just comes from having a forced route. However, it’s needed in this case as she’s a central focal point in the main character’s story. In short, her route’s plot will be mitigated if you play any other’s route first, especially Mifuyu’s.

The glaring issue of her route is the flat climax of the route. Then somehow ramps up to decent quality right after the climax is over with. It’s like the writer didn’t have something in mind for her during the section where something has to go wrong so they put that in there. Even though the subplot and how it flowed to her route quite well. It’s just the final hurrah destroyed it all. I guess at that point, it no longer really mattered. It’s the reason why I don’t place it as the best route in the novel.

Because of that, I put it at B+. It’s not ground breaking, it has nothing really new, but you’ll experience some feelings and have a good time reading it.

Koi To Senkyo To Chocolate Visual Novel Routes

Aomi:

I think the novel wants you to go through this route after the primary route. Basically because she has the most screen time and interaction with the main character in the primary route outside of Chisato, the female lead in the route.
Her route is basically the sweet girl route that gets bullied because she’s under financial aid.
Nowhere near as good as Yume Miru Kusuri’s Aeka route. It’s not like the emphasis of the effects of being bullied isn’t in the route, but it’s so low key that you honestly wouldn’t even care.
Overall I found the route rather boring, it’s basically a kouhai route.

I put her as C because I honestly didn’t care about this route but it’s not like there was nothing I hated either. Her relationship with her family, Chisato’s section in her route and her development with the club members are the highlights.
The one thing I will say this can also be one of the more ballsy routes; As the MC goes through a lot of shit with a lot of people throughout this route compared to others.

Mifuyu:

I’d say this route and Michiru’s route are the two contenders for the final route. I believe both serve a good way to end the novel compared to Aomi’s and Shinonme’s routes. One reason why I might set this as the final route as it also closes Chisato’s well enough outside of her own route.
Mifuyu can be considered as the big sister that’s always around the two common main protagonists.
I won’t say much about it, as there isn’t much to complain about it.
I’d put this as my 3rd favorite route in the novel. It’d do better if the main protagonist was voiced, but both Mifuyu and Chisato handle it well as it mixes a scenario that doesn’t occur often with tidbits that’re common for novels.

Her route is weird in the way that she is the second most likely heroine, and the least likely at the same time. On one hand, she’s closest to the main protagonist aside from Chisato, yet she’s also the most secretive of the cast. She’s also the hardest route to get, though that isn’t saying much as the others are quite obvious.
I’d put as an B+ simply because I didn’t really see much of a hiccup, aside from some translation errors which is not a fault of the novel itself and that it felt a little short compared to most others. Even though I enjoyed Chisato’s route more, as she has more direct development, this route flows better from beginning to end.

Shinonome:

She’s responsible on the outside, but childish in the bigger picture. Outside of the public, she’s quite funny in the way she teases people.
Honestly, I dislike this route, lol. It feels tacked on, even Aomi’s route had it better.
For one thing, they know eachother for like 20 hours at best before they somehow loved each other.
The route’s conflicts are also finished quickly, barely doing anything with the opposing forces. A lot of just seems to just end nicely, all the time.
I’d find it more interesting route’s heroine and main support would switch roles.

I give her a D, not because the route is just bad. It’s ok, there’s nothing bad about it, but nothing interesting either. It’s a D because there was no point to this route, but also because the more interesting character got the supporting role instead of her.
Even the school news reporter was more interesting.
It’s mainly, there’s not much to her for her to have a route, compared to the other characters.

Michiru:

I read this as the second route, but in competition with Mifuyu on being the last route.
It resolves Chisato’s conflict a little, and it covers the remaining characters that haven’t been touched yet.
Michiru is the quiet one of the group, she’s also the most mysterious of the group.
It’s my favorite route aside from Chisato, and it introduces subplots that were pretty interesting albeit short. The worst part of her route is just the plot twist is hard to miss. I noticed since Chisato’s scene for crying out loud, lol.
Another main issue is that it jumps problems. Something that seemed like an important part of the route gets barely noticed, when it’d be a focal point in other routes that have the same scenario. However, this is an issue with multiple routes, not just Michiru’s.

But she’s really cute, I believe it’s mainly bias as I normally poke and go out with girls with similar personalities.
In short, aside from Chisato, this the route that should be read.
She’s also a B+, solely because while I enjoyed it, there were scenarios that were brought up that could have further improved the route, were forgotten shortly after.

The end result

Windows

In the end, it’s a decent novel. It’s more of a peppy novel that has some decently written drama alongside some that I didn’t care about at all. There’s some useless routes in my opinion, but the good ones make up for it. There’s also plot devices that eventually forgotten for the majority of the routes, which is one of the main problems of the novel.
The music is well done and the insert song is quite amazing and used well.
The art is also decent, though their faces have some weird curves which I didn’t notice until I was posting images on this post, though I see no problem with the scenery.

The three routes that should be read is Chisato, Mifuyu and Michiru.

However, where is my Nozomi route? And more importantly, where is my Hazuki route!?
You clearly spend more time with those two than Satsuki.
Hell, even a Hidaka route would be pretty interesting.
